Hardman Sprint – Valentia Island
750m Swim – 20k Cycle – 5k Run – June 23, 2018
The swim will begin from Renard pier. All competitors will travel to Renard on the Valentia Island Ferry, and swim back to Valentia Harbour.
The cycle leaves transition with a tough climb for the first four kms before cycling across the top of the island, at the far end of the island there is a sweeping left turn with views of the Skellig to your right, from here passing the top of the Portmagee bridge continue to Chapeltown before taking the lower road to the transition area at Knightstown.
The run is an out and back leaving transition and following the cycle route for 2.5km before turning around and running back downhill towards the finish at the Royal Hotel.

1.15pm in front of the Royal Hotel
How do we get to Renard point?
The Valentia Island ferry will start carrying contestants from approximately 1.30pm
When/where is the prizegiving?
5pm in the main bar of the Royal hotel.
What are the cutoff times?
Do I need a TI license?
Yes. As this is a TI sanctioned race you will either need to produce a full TI license or a one day license. ODLs can be purchased in advance on the TI website. For team entries one member of the team must produce either a full TI license or a ODL.
What time does transition open?
10am-1pm. All bikes must be racked ready by 1pm. No bikes may be taken from transition after the race before 3.50pm.
What about parking?
On the lower road as you approach the transition area there are plenty of spaces. There are also some areas off the village which do not interfere with the race route. There will be marshalls on site to guide you.
